A letter to the IFS community from Harley Goldberg, DO, Chair, Board of Directors | August 19, 2019

Dear Members of the IFS Community,

On behalf of the Board of Directors of your Foundation for Self Leadership, I am pleased to update you on the status of your Foundation’s executive director search process, which was initiated in February 2019.

The search process was comprehensive, thorough and conducted with the highest levels of professionalism and integrity. A search committee consisting of board and community members was involved in screening and initial interviews. The Board was responsible for final interviews and final selection.

We conducted careful screenings, numerous interviews, deliberations, and conversations with a highly qualified candidates, from within a highly diverse pool of potential executives. We made an offer to our candidate of choice, who regrettably turned it down after the fact.

This may have been a setback of sorts. At the same time, we will consider it an opportunity for us to take stock, build the Foundation further, and continue planning ahead.

We are pleased to share with you that Toufic Hakim, PhD, the Foundation’s former executive director has agreed to extend his term of service to the Foundation and the IFS community as the Foundation’s Executive Director. Toufic, who served as sole executive from January 1, 2018, through this past June, assumed his role again beginning Monday, August 19, 2019. In the interim, he provided counsel and support to me in my interim capacity as executive chair.

The Board has unanimously approved his re-engagement in this role to help move the Foundation steadily toward our goals of establishing greater validity, accessibility, and applicability of IFS ever more broadly in the world.

Please join me in welcoming Toufic back to the role as our Executive Director.

Harley Goldberg, DO
